Well written. There was a lot of story packed into these pages. A tiny bit confusing at times with the flashbacks.

3.5 stars: the writing is lyrical, but I found it very hard to follow because of how fragmented it was. This in turn influenced how much I was able to follow the characters--it was hard to keep them straight.
A jewel. Tiny but mighty. Small in size, huge in impact. Lyrical, honest, sad, hopeful. And most of all, an incandescent addition to the story-telling by, and of, black girls and women in contemporary America. Warning: I'll be dropping this gorgeous and right-sized volume into the satchels and tote bags of many unsuspecting family members and friends. I hope you'll be as moved as I was, and repeat. Read on!
Beautiful and sad and lush. JW knows how to fill a moment. Listened to it for the language, which was gorgeous. Would like to go back and read.

This was a good book, life lesson where taught in the book. It took this girl to go through therapy to figure out that he mom was dead. Then to top it off her damn friend started dating her friend then go pregnant. Who really are your people.
