This was interesting. It’s a captivating tale and I loved how the story of the old mixed in to the story of the new. The FMC irritated me and the paranormal aspect was a little odd, but overall an enjoyable read.

WOW.Well,I finished this book a couple days ago.And I really loved it.I loved how Declan was determined to be with Lena.I just wished she wasn't so stubborn. But I also liked her that way.It was sort of a cat and mouse romance. And I loved the twist that involved the ghost of the Hall.Because he was Abby and she was Lucian. It was such a OMFG moment.I was just totally like, screaming.I just loved it!And I wish that I new how they are now that they are together.Hmmmm.I just wish there were a sequel or something.I just loved it.And I love books that are set in different states.Especially New Orleans.I love all the history and voodoo that is there.I really want to go there one day and experience it myself.Woo!Loved the book.

LOVED, but I wanted MORE. More of everything in this book.
This is the first of Nora’s stand-alone novels I’ve read. I started early 2019 with the Cousins O’Dwyer trilogy and I’ve now worked my way through all her trilogies/series... some I even read twice... and I need more Nora. I know her style now that I’ve read all her trilogies/series, and I’ve decided I’m going to read literally everything she’s ever published, because I LOVE her... the way Emma Thompson loves Joni Mitchell in Love Actually.
So here... maybe I’m just so attached to Nora’s trilogies that I felt Midnight Bayou could have gone on longer, or been extended in to another trilogy. That it would have been even better with more of that History, Mystery and Paranormal woven in.
For me, the idea of late 19th century New Orleans Bayou estate featuring upper & lower class family scandal has SO MUCH MORE to give to this story.

I really enjoyed this book. Loved the characters...main, incidental and bad. Loved the settings of the deep south...New Orleans, old plantation house, etc.
