A masterpiece. I genuinely do not have the words to encapsulate the rawness of this book and its complete and unapologetic frankness. As someone who grew up in dance, albeit in America and three decades after fictional Cléo, I can say that the depiction of what it is like to come into adolescence in the dance world is truly unparalleled. I especially appreciated how Lola Lafon did not romanticize the ugly parts of the dance world and portrayed them alongside the very real allure of dance as art and entertainment. Stunning.

I want to cry. This book was beautiful. And for so many characters in one short book, they all jumped off the pages to life. I have an especially soft spot for Cléo, maybe the only time I've ever cared about a fictional character.
