Love an Emily Henry romcom. Loved the friend group dynamic and the tropes throughout and got so engulfed in the world she created with this book.

This is such a perfect summer read.

Harriet and Wyn have a solid group of friends and they all make it a point to meet up once a year in a Maine cottage owned by one of the girls father. Only this year is very different as Harriet and Wyn have broken up but no one knows. They don’t want to cause their friends any stress so they decide to just suck it up and pretend that they are still together.

The story is told both in the present but also the past which follows Harriet and Wyn’s entire relationship. You don’t know why they actually broke up until almost the end of the book. Sometimes this can be annoying to me but I feel like the author did a great job with keeping you interested in both story timelines.

While this is not my favorite Emily Henry (that’s reserved for Book Lovers) it ranks pretty far near the top.

Emily Henry’s stories are always emotional rollercoasters and this did not disappoint. I could not put this down. Felt myself emotionally swinging between the joy at the beautiful love and friendship of these characters and near on blubbing at the angst and pain of their relationships. This was a story about friendship and found family as much as anything else. Harriet, Cleo and Sabrina’s bond ran throughout this story. The author did a great job of showing that as much as things change and people grow in different directions real and true friendship endures. The trio and the whole friendship group that formed around it with the additions of Parth, Wyn and Kimmy made me happy. The descriptions of the “last trip” really made me want to go on a trip to Maine!!

As for the main plot of Harriet and Wyn. That took me through the emotional wringer. As they fell for each other I fell for them and in between the blubbing I was raging as to why they weren’t together. Loved them, was frustrated with them for not communicating their pain, loneliness and insecurities to each other despite their vast love, and was desperate for them both to be happy in the end in whatever form that would take. One of my favourite reads this year 5 ⭐️.

This is basically the same book as People We Meet on Vacation with a lil less spice

This book completely changed my life. I fear no other book will ever compare.

As a 30 YO woman whose group of six friends who are changing as we age & who has also been with her partner for 10 years…this book hit a little close to home. Harriet & Wym are extremely beloved to me- their love story is passionate & full of deep emotional connection & commitment. EH YOU ARE THE GOAT

I think everyone will relate to this story in completely different ways depending on your own personal relationships and life situations in general.

I did really enjoyed this, I can always rely on Emily Henry for a good read. This was a 4 star read for me and I would definitely recommend.

I think the only part of this story I found hard was the miscommunication because I find it so frustrating but that is life! I think this book really shows how you just need to be honest with yourself, friends, family, partners etc because things get too messy when they don’t always need to be.
