adventurous informative inspiring fast-paced

3.5 stars. Interesting reading. Short stories about specific tigers the author hunted, most of which had become habitual killers of local villagers.

This edition needs some human proofreading and corrections; there are a number of typos which are real words, so apparently weren't caught by automated spell check programs.

Strange way of writing

Informative and surprisingly funny at times though, like the author, it never diminishes the seriousness of the undertakings in this book. Great look at outer regions of India at the time (1900a) plus vividly informative on Tigers, their habits, and why they become man-eaters.

Good for fans of adventure novels, history, hunting, and naturalism.

I really enjoyed this book. Just as I thought when I started reading it, it was full of "ripping good yarns." The stories of tiger hunting were suspenseful and filled with interesting details about the habits of the wildlife in that part of India. Corbett seems to have had an almost modern conservationist's sensibility about how humans affect the habitat of the tigers, and he hunted only the tigers that had started to kill humans. I think this book would make riveting bedtime stories for my future (as-yet hypothetical) kids.

Almost impossibly manly. A great read.

I struggled to get through this series of very repetitive essays about a dude shooting tigers

Well written personal narrative. Despite words penned by the author to the contray, this is full of word pictures, wonderful descriptions and insight.
