I was surprised by how much I loved this book. I started thinking it would be a boring recount of stalking and killing man-eaters by a stuffy/racist Englishman but I was totally wrong.

I was pleasantly surprised to discover that Corbett truly loved Kumaon and wildlife, both. His descriptions of the Kumoani community were filled with respect for the most part. Also, his love for wildlife was crystal clear though I must say I grieved for the Bachelor of Powalgarh who was shot for no reason other than trophy hunting. What a waste!

Some things I learned:
-Tigers assume that humans have a strong sense of smell so when killing a human they position themselves according to the wind
- Pound to pound, Leopards are the strongest animals
