The beginning of this book was great. While I liked the plot, characters were so simple, it was hard to get really invested.Overall, I enjoyed it and I flew through this book which helped but sometimes, I wished we had a bigger impression on me.

This book was good… That's the best I can do, though. While I liked the story, I didn't love the characters. Wolf and Tana's Dad were the only two people I looked forward to hearing more from.

Tana was boring. Even when she was trying to stand up for what she believed in, she was still entirely brainwashed and felt very robotic. I found her very whiny. She complained constantly but also did very little to change her circumstances or to help the island.

Her mom? Trash. Her best friend? Trash. Wolf? Okay. He wasn't quite enough. His character had more personality than the rest of the town put together, but he still just wasn't quite “it” for me.I needed more sparks in their relationship. While there were a few cute moments, cute moments don't cut it in a book that revolves around love.

This story also went in circles. We never accomplished anything or moved on from anything. There was the first two-thirds of the book, and then the last third was just a repeat of the beginning.

I found it hard to connect with the story and with the characters, but overall, it was a pretty okay read.

the perfect, cozy fantasy read. I normally don’t enjoy stand alone fantasy books, because they tend to feel rushed like the author is trying to fit this super epic story into one novel. not only did Rachel Griffin write a beautiful story, but executed a novel filled with magic and wonder that left me intrigued and wanting more. this book scratches both the fantasy itch, as well as the “I just want to read a simple, cozy, feel good book” itch. would definitely recommend!

i almost said it's longer than it needs to be, but upon further reflection, i think all of it was necessary to feel as connected to the characters and invested in the plot/romance as i was. yes there were several cringey YA lines & moments, but if you go into it knowing that and taking it for what it is, it's a fun time. i loved the decisions and negotiations that were made; it was a great story to binge 100 pages at a time. rachel griffin's writing feels like home & i will read everything she writes.

p.s. i pictured Wolfe as Guy from The Croods & Landon as the evil prince in Frozen the entire time lol

I love Rachel Griffins writing. Her magical way of describing worlds.
However..... this was more focussed on the romance side of things. Which is not bad, not at all, just that Wild Is The Witch made me cry it was so good. And Nature Of Witches was SO BEAUTIFUL... I sort of wished I had read this one first as the others or definately better. Still really enjoyed it ❤️
