This is similar to how Indiana Jones would feel if told through Marion’s perspective, although Huck and Theo are thankfully much closer in age. It has all your adventure story tropes, but well done: exotic locations described vividly, Macguffins with lore that’s actually interesting, chase scenes with a fair amount of dramatic tension. I would have given 5 stars for the pure escapism, but I saw a few of the plot twists coming early on and a few things took me out of the 1930s setting.

Did you grow up LOVING Indiana Jones and the Mummy? Than this book is for you! 

Adventure, mischief and mayhem wrapped into a feminist coming of age tale with a hint of romance. 

Huck is by far the best character providing intelligent comedic relief. Theo is who I wish I had been in my early 20s, but of course thats the point of these books.
