Despite the copious amount of grammatical errors in this book, I completely fell in love with Carter and Olivia. This was a great palate cleanser for me, while still having the right amount of emotional depth and complexity that makes it more than just a fluff read. I wasn’t a huge fan of the miscommunication trope that happens later on in the book, but thankfully that was pretty short-lived.

Carter Beckett kept me on the edge of my seat. Typically I’m not one for insta love tropes but Becka wrote the hell out of those characters and I ate all of it up.

Most romances are so short you either get insta-love and get to them in a relationship, or you get the slow burn and they get into a relationship right before the end. In this book you get the slow burn and you get to enjoy the relationship. I had really hoped to get through the whole thing without the third act breakup, but no luck. I did love Carter’s character - he’s a lovable goofball.

“I know you think your tears are a weakness, Ollie, but they show me how huge your heart is.”

This books is cheesy asf but that’s romance for you! Carter is the hot-shot pro hockey player and playboy and Olivia is the sweet but fiery school teacher who doesn’t do hookups.

I want to feel like I mean something to a man, not like he’s made it a challenge to get in my pants because I’m the first woman who didn’t fall at his feet.“

There were so many cute parts to this book that made me SWOON. The way Carter takes care of Olivia is *chef’s kiss*. I love that he senses her insecurities and he ACTIVELY tries to prevent triggers for her (minus the first one).

“I’m not sure my reaction is the best. I throw my hands in the air and scream, accidentally shoving her off my lap and to the ground when I rocket to my feet and yell out, “I have a girlfriend!”

There were some parts I didn’t like 😬 at times Carter was very pushy and didn’t respect Olivia’s  boundaries - that’s a no for me.

The conflict in the end seemed rushed but I like how it was resolved and I love the growth of both characters.

My biggest criticism: it was waaaay too dang long! There is no need to have 20 smut scenes that are all exactly alike.

Overall I rated it a 3.5 ⭐️ but I am exited to read Garett’s story in “Play with me”

dnf @ chapter 3

I thought I could keep going. I read the reviews and so many people said not so fun things so thank you, but yeah no.
I can't even tell you how many times the girls height was mentioned. Really what's with the "she's so tiny she could fit in my fucking nostril". I don't mind little height difference, I like tall guys, but there's a limit to how much I can take before I cringe to death.
Also the way Carter kept harassing Olivia the first time they met. Just imagine if that was some other guy who's not 'hot', then it wouldn't be 'so okay'. It's literally sexual harassment.

Well, Carter Beckett might have made his way into my Top 5 Book Boys Of All Time. A hockey man who is gentle when he needs to be and…not gentle when he needs to be? Love.

I really enjoyed this book, although I could’ve done without the constant reminders about Olivia’s size, the “scandal” towards the end, and the fact that he proposed at Cara’s wedding (even though he had approval…and it was definitely Cara’s idea to begin with, I just know it).
