Rose is a history teacher in Marysburg High, and juste before the start of the new school year, she learns that she will not teach her Honors World History Class. For various reasons, she really wanted to teach this class, and what pisses her off is that an awful dude (I can’t remember his position in the school hierarchy) gave her classes to the new history teacher, Martin.
Martin can’t understand why Rose is cold to him at the beginning, but he doesn’t hold it against her, because he sees that she is a strong woman, that protects herself, and he just wants to be friendly to her. Martin has a daughter, Bea, who is the reason for his move to Marysburg. Both Martin and Rose are a bit attracted to each other at first, but the more they get to know each other, the more they discover little obstacles in their way.
Overall it was a really cute story, with older characters (in their 40s), which was a nice change from what I usually read. I really liked Rose's character, because she was so defensive, so scared to let people in, that it was so great to see her take a chance with Martin. He was such a cute, soft, attentive man, I think that it’s what a boyfriend should be in real life

Spoiler
As their relationship develops, from distant coworkers to friends at work, to more, Martin is able to lower his defense and let Rose in, but she is still very guarded, and has trouble acknowledging Martin.Overall it was a really cute story, with older characters (in their 40s), which was a nice change from what I usually read. Ok I’m kinda forgetting because I read this 2 weeks ago and forgot to mark it. But I remember I started off really liking it but then the second half was just kind of underwhelming. Not bad but also not great

Sweet, steamy, full of heart. Teachers loving teachers in an unconstrained passion for their jobs and each other... I mean, that sounds a little silly, but the book has enough love to cover it. Particularly love how they care so much about their students, and everything takes a back-seat to that. There's a lot of somewhat self-conscious modeling -- explicitly supportive conversations on the topics of women's pride, fierceness and praise for unapologetic identity claiming. Pushback about toxic masculinity, elevation of found family and healing after divorce. The real strengths of the book are in hilarious dialogue and compassionate but thorny characters. Good stuff!
