I really enjoyed this book and loved how adorable Rose and Martin are together.  They're both high school history teacher nerds who have a very dry and witty sense of humor (their banter is fantastic!).  They also are both in their 40s and divorced, which was a type of main character I don't see very often in romance books.  I loved how they both used their previous marriages and subsequent divorces to solidify for themselves what they want in a life partner and what they're not willing to compromise for.  Martin and Rose were really cute together and I liked how their relationship developed over the course of the year.  This really felt like a friends to lovers story and I thought it was so cute.

They made Martin a sexy name and a sexy introverted man! I really enjoyed how the relationship slowly built over the school year for Rose and Martin, loved how mature and low angst the story was. Two middle aged teachers, in the 40+ club, who care intensely about their students and their wellbeing. Martin definitely was the token "man written by a woman" and whatever the manic pixie dream girl version of a feminist and womanist man would be. Martins woke, I was into it. Rose is not a tiny heroine!! Has curves, has style, has snark, drinks as much coffee as I do. Cares about her students, and is a direct no bullshit person. I wish she was my teacher in HS.

Very low angst, a couple nice & steaaaaamy scenes, slow burn, sunshine hero and grumpy heroine. Teachers at high school, academia and some awesomely thought out classroom lesson plans. A very cute and 80s groveling scene, some care taking, great conversation and mature intellect. Cute, sweet, and light contemporary read.
