This one is hovering around a 3.5 for me, but I honestly think that is because I've been in a reading slump/EXTREMELY funky mood for the last month and nothing seems to be gripping me. As evidenced by the fact that this took me TEN DAYS to finish.

Overall this was a lovely, sweet story, I really liked all the characters, and Olivia Dade is just fantastic. I don't know what's wrong with my reading moodbrain but I hope it passes soon.

Was exciting to get to read something that’s set in a high school but isn’t actually focused on the high schoolers. Olivia Dade is absurdly talented at making me root for all these damaged people finding love. Also her conflicts never stem from miscommunications but always from either actual character differences or genuine plot conflict. 10/10.

Thank you to the author, Victory Editing and Netgalley for the ARC in return for an honest review. Being a teacher, I was instantly drawn to this book, this is a lovely and adorable story.

This book could have been a 3 stars, if the last 10% of it had been on par with the first half. I can't get into details without spoiling the ending, so I'll just say that very last chapter before the epilogue was a tad too much. I know there HAD to be an out-of-character gesture, but it was definitely TOO out-of-character. And maybe, just maybe, the female lead, Rose, who is supposed to be one of a kind, ends up a bit stereotyped.
Martin, the male lead, is oh so understanding and generous and "mushy" until he decides to affirm himself and stop putting other people's needs before his own, and to do it for the flimsiest reason ever (I definitely sided with Rose on this one)
None of the characters felt like people you could actually meet in the real world (except for the sleazy head of secondary social studies. Those guys are everywhere).
It was an easy summer read, but nothing more than that.

banger, im always a sucker for teacher-teacher romances

martin as an ml is so great, i really like him with need more mls like him

buT his cover character reminds me of jono from cinema therapy and it cracks me up a bit

rose is also a great character

it also has serious topics like, cw: emotional abuse, fatphobia, school shootings, infidelity (not with main characters), and bullying. and it's presented in a way that is not forced for the sake of the plot

this was a good short read with a healthy relationship while still having spicy scenes

ALSO martin's relationship with his daughter is so wholesome im a fan
