I don’t think I am the target audience for this book, but I really did not enjoy it. The characters are flat and the attempts to make them interesting are just ways people have harmed them. Their whole personalities are based on abuse they have suffered. The sex scenes are definitely the worse part of this book. First of all, I don’t buy that he never had good sex in his first marriage. Secondly, the bullet point pre-sex conversation about sexual likes and dislikes was so unsexy and weird. It felt like a) painting very normal sex as super kinky and b) totally disruptive of the flow. Finally, a women’s genitalia being referred to as “her sex” is so gross to me.

Her relationship with her in laws is also so weird. Or maybe it’s their relationship with her that bothers me? Like? Even if your son is a dick, don’t have pictures of his ex wife in your house?

Also the bad guy character is so boring and uninteresting and frankly pretty unnecessary. Her character development in letting her walls down was much more interesting than letting her ex in laws help her take down the selfish vengeful mean man.

Maybe this book is perfect for someone out there but wow was it not for me.

first of all olivia dade’s covers... superior!

cute contemporary romance! I love how the heroine was plus size and it didn’t consume the story. she was happy and healthy and i love that rep in here!

the hero was such a icky sweet cinnamon roll and it was a nice palette cleanse for me! this feminist hero warmed my heart! this is a workplace romance between teachers and it was really fun being in that setting.

the heroine had every intention not to give the hero her time once a toxic sexist male colleague, determined to take her down gives everything that the heroine loves away to the new history teacher!

as time went on and there respect for each other grew so did their feelings! i do feel like the chemistry was sometimes forced and there wasn’t much progression from discomfort to like. i love reading about teachers who love what they do! overall i felt pretty meh about it!

Really enjoyed this slightly unconventional romance novel featuring two older (ie early 40s) main characters. Well done!
