Martin is a new History teacher who moved to live closer to his teenage daughter after his divorce. He is brilliant, witty, compassionate, and a history dork. Rose is a smart, stylish, fierce, a little broken and hurt, but still strong. When an administration decision has Martin taking over a critical class from Rose, Rose is internally furious at the decision but doesn’t lose her put together demeanor, treating Martin with polite disinterest. But, Martin has a way of sneaking past the walls Rose as erected without her knowledge. And throughout the school year, Rose opens up more and more to Martin. However, Rose and Martin were both hurt in the past and it could spell the end of their relationship if they let it.
Watching Rose’s transformation is what made this book a 5 star for me. She went from trust no one to allowing herself to trust a select few. She learned that she doesn’t have to be an ice queen to receive what she wants, but she does have to fight for it. Martin also went through a bit of a transformation. He is the cinnamon roll to Rose’s ice queen, but learns that is is okay to sometimes put yourself first and that communication of his true feelings, instead of brushing his own feelings under the rug for others. Overall, very well done. It made me laugh and cry and learn a little more about myself as well.

Sweet story
The characters were believable and had great chemistry. There were a few parts where the story dragged a bit but overall very sweet.
