Honestly, I can't tell you what made me pick up this book when I did. I didn't have anything ready from my holds at the library and none of my ARCs were calling to me, and I have had this on my TBR for awhile. I wasn't sure what to expect, but I really enjoyed it! One of my favorite things about this book is the age of the characters; they're both in their forties and the MMC is a divorced dad which gives a whole different vibe to the story. It wasn't anything I'd read before. I liked the character well enough; I didn't feel like I had enough time to fall in love with either of them as the book is on the shorter side, but I also liked how their relationship developed a lot. They gave each other space when it was necessary and pushed each others limits when it was called for. I thought the writing style was really interesting, a lot more understated than I expected which I don't even know if it's the right descriptor. This book felt new and interesting, but at the same time, it wasn't exciting and fangirl inducing for me; I have a quiet appreciation for the story here. I am thinking about continuing with the series but haven't made a decision yet.

Listening to a story written in third person is so boring. Sorry!

A contemplative romance about teachers where the MCs have to overcome past trauma and risk their emotional barriers. No charabia perfect. It was nice to see a larger woman characterized as stylish and a hero who was not a swashbuckler or a rake.

As a history teacher myself, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY approve of this book. Such beautiful characters and storytelling. I couldn’t put it down! Amazing

A cute story (and so nice to have normal-looking MCs for a change!), but their connection didn’t feel incredibly organic.
