The premise isn't bad, but the writing is. A rip off of The Notebook?

This is a sweet story of love that doesn’t follow the expected path of a romance novel. I loved the imagery of the stars. I also loved how Ellie is an independent woman!

This story follows two young people who meet each other and fall in love over the summer but go into separate paths and later reconnect. This book is similar to what you see of a summer-themed book. I loved the story of this book and seeing the second-chance romance coming to life. The writing style was mostly great but I do have to say that it didn’t flow to my liking. I loved the concept of how it starts from when they were young and goes onto the story instead of time jumping back and forth. I enjoyed the dual povs and seeing the time lapse for the characters.

Jack meets Ellie while giving a tour and begins to enjoy her company right away. I loved seeing him fall for her and doing anything to get her love. He has a great character development in the book. Ellie starts off more as friends with Jack but begins to also fall in love with him. The only issue is that she comes from a wealthy family and wants to be a professor. I also enjoyed her story and seeing her get her career. There are many side characters in this story. At first I hated Ellie’s mom but I loved how the author explained why she did the things she did. The romance is friends to lovers and second chance.

The ending was well done and I don’t know if it’s considered a HEA. It’s beautifully written story but it did miss some marks. I know many would enjoy this heartfelt story but pay attention to the style it’s written.

This novel follows the lives Ellie and Jack, who were drawn to eachother upon their first time meeting. From then, they develop a serious relationship but one that has an end since Ellie is only in town for the summer. They face a lot of tests for their relationship, but ultimately I felt this novel was too cliche and predictable for me. I do not think this love, created by them, in such a short amount of time could be that strong, and going withstand much.

I wanted to like this. It was simple which was sort of a relief after a bunch of high stakes romantasy, and it could jebs been really cute but instead it just... wasn't.

The first section was really cute and sweet and exactly what I wanted. Thennnnn it just went downhill.

Spoilers ahead.

She dear Johns him during his drafted military service and I just hate that so much. Completely ruined her for me.

To add further insult, when we pick them up again,  Jack has a girlfriend. Who I don't think would have been freely living with him in that time period? So thar weirded me out.

But also he cheats on her. And at least has the decency to feel bad about it...UNTIL they discover she outed them all those years ago which gives this impression it somehow justifies Jack's unfaithfulness and Ellie's homesteading, even though neither of them knew about it at the time. Just left SUCH a sour taste in my mouth.

And Jack and Ellie  do not get better. Their communication sucks and is filled with ultimatums and making stupid independent decisions without ever talking about it. Just....so poor.
