Liked this book more than I thought I would! After the last 3 books, I had thought there could be no more. I thought it would be a boring 500 page book of Rose hunting Dimitri-but there were so many more things that happened, and characters integral to furthering the plot. You learn more about Spirit use, more about Dimitri's family, and about the alchemists. Stayed up half the night reading this because I got hooked!

Listening to the audiobook really illuminates just how much TELLING this book does. It sounds like “I did this, saw this, did this, looked over here, heard this…”

That’s my biggest feedback - something I didn’t realize when I was younger and reading the first few books - that the writing style is very juvenile and unrefined.

The pacing was slow. I wish the book had started about 1/4th of the way through and just cut out the first fourth that felt like meaningless exposition.

Since this is the fourth book in the Vampire  Academy series, I cannot tell you much about the plot.
Sadly, Blood Promise couldn't really keep up the tension I so liked from the thirs book. To be honest, the first half of this book was actually quiet boring and I was already seeing myself falling into a reading slump.

Thankfully, the second half was way better and was as good as the suspense in the third book. Some new things were revealed and new questions arose. Honestly, besides of the Strigoi stuff I couldn't care less about Lissa's plot part. I started to dislike her and for me that woman needs constant supervision or else she does something dumb and whines or other stuff happens.

Another point I want to mention is the relationship between Rose and Dimitri. While I personally don't have such a huge problem with their relationship, I still never got that "love" aspect. I mean with this that, while I could see the affection between them, I never really saw this as love, like them being equals etc. However, Blood Promise finally gave me the feeling that this is true love between them.

All in all, I still like the series in general and am looking forward for the fifth book and the continuation of the Strigoi situation but I have to suffer Lissa again, ugh).

I reread this series at least once a year, and this one is by far my favorite book in the Vampire Academy series. I shed actual tears the first time I read this.
