I really enjoyed this book. I will admit I took a break from reading it in order to finish off one or two others I had started, but coming back to it, I ell head first into it all over again and couldn't for the life of me figure out why I put the other books I was reading ahead of this one. Maybe I needed a break from the romance novel. Maybe it was because I recently got my own little black cat detective to keep me busy. But anyway, back to the review. Familiar, black cat detective (love this little guy!) is on the prowl again in Texas where he brings together a Romani princess and a sharp businessman. Without Familiar, this would have been a ho-hum, run-of-the-mill, forgettable romance novel. Familiar really makes it memorable, with his human-level intelligence and his taste for the finer flavours of life. Lovers of cats, especially intelligent black cats, will enjoy this novel, I think.
