Too many names, too much blood and gore, too exaggerated for my taste.

2.5 stars, maybe. It picked up towards the end. I liked some of the romance parts and hijinks (usually the thing most of my friends complain about when it comes to Arthurian legend), but the repetitive "and then Sir Dude beheaded this person in the middle of a conversation because they killed his brother but then two pages later Sir Otherman killed Sir Dude because he killed HIS brother etc etc" was banal and boring.

This book left me with the impression that I like retellings of Arthurian legend and the Knights of the Round Table more than the original stories. I like the idea of that idealism and the failure to execute it. I like the flawed characters and the camaraderie. This book felt like it was probably 60% jousting and 20% knights dueling and discussing whether or not they had the right to kill each other.
