- thought there would be more descriptions
- easy and thrilling to read
- the lore and worldbuilding is amazing
- expected more scenes from planets outside of Arrakis

Mid. Starts strong, and I was really interested in the world, but then there are too many samey characters (don't ask me how Idaho differs from Hawat or Kynes) and too much mystic nonsense. I'll probably never read this again, but I appreciate its influence on the genre and the world it sets up.

All the good things you've heard about this book are true.
All the negative things you've heard are greatly exaggerated.

This would have been a five-star book, if not for a section around three quarters in that screwed the flow and consistent pace, pitching me right out of the zen-like state I found myself in while reading Dune.

Comprehensive review to follow...probably.
