This was a hard read because of the subject matter (DV).  But I think what I liked the most was the idea that even with terrible tragedy and heartbreak, people can still carve out a bit of happiness.
It may take a long time to reach your happy ending, but you CAN get there - it's not impossible, just a little difficult.

Honestly one of my favorite reads so far. I hate when books go too fast. But this read has a very steady pace and I never felt like it was rushed at any point. Seriously might be my top 1 !!!

A surprisingly well-rounded view of difficult subject matter, while still including a somewhat cliched storyline.

okay, so.

things started off okay, i wasn't incredibly invested but i wasn't having a hard time reading. as the story progressed, jenna pissed me off more and more. to start, i'm the same age as her at the start of the book (23) and her naïveté got to be too much for me sometimes. i do feel like, with her childhood, she would have handled some things a bit more maturely/differently than how she actually did. but of course, everyone's trauma manifests differently so i won't be too hard on that. she was... very frustrating though, and a lot of my notes/highlights were just me being upset with her next bad decision. after going through her relationship with colton and his alarming behavior at the end, she still continually put herself in danger. i tried to sympathize with her a lot, reminding myself she's been through a lot of scary things and that again, everyone handles that differently, but my GOD. so many times, i was surprised at her lack of caution, and even fear. i know she was having nightmares, but so many times she just... completely acted like she hasn't almost been killed, and wasn't being stalked. how did she not care more about being fucking stalked! or take things a bit more seriously after the end of her relationship with colton! i understand wanting to live life again, and i won't blame her for wanting that. but there was an obsessive man actively out for her life (who already showed her he owned a gun!), one who knew a LOT about her.

and i mean, this is also a quick timeline! colton hurts her the first time, then a month later tries to strangle her. then she stays with damian for like, 4 weeks? and falls in LOVE with him (

This book is BEAUTIFUL!!!!

The writing style, the plot, everything was amazing. I was sucked into the story and let me tell you I bawled for Justin, I sobbed, my heart broke.

Reading this book made me realize that we never really get books that depicts love in an abusive relationship, what we normally get is the story of the victim still staying in the relationship out of fear because they are too scared to leave and not because they believe that their love might turn things around.

This book is a masterpiece as far as I'm concerned.
