There it is. As much as I dug the previous "volume", it's clear that this is where Isayama really started to find his footing in this universe and put his foot on the gas pedal. The art is vastly improved, the writing is sharp, and the massive set pieces slap. The "57th Scouting Expedition" arc is an absolute knockout and the "Clash of the Titans" run that follows is a great showcase for side characters who haven't received as much attention in the foregoing pages. All of this combined really assists in fleshing out this world and spinning its story in exciting, unconventional directions.

All of this is driven by a propulsive plot and compelling mysteries. Reading the series with all of the latter's resolutions firmly in mind, it's a lot easier to focus on the minor character moments and admirable attention to detail. This series really is the sum of its parts and I'm consistently impressed at the delicate balance they manage to pull off in juggling an exciting narrative, compelling mysteries, and a sizable cast of characters (even if most of them are absolutely doomed). I'm digging the absolute hell out of this.

Yet another fantastic arc in the series, we have the female titan on a rampage, and an unexpected horde of titans that trap part of our cast in a castle. There's huge reveal after the other, especially in the final few pages. The story, characters, and art are *chef's kiss* and I can't wait to continue to the next arc!
