another saga of the herondales not being normal about the carstairs.

honestly, i love cordelia and james so much. but i was also really invested in lucie, alastair, and the lightwoods. particularly anna lightwood. i need to be seduced by her, unabashed and happy.

plot-wise, this was a bit of a drag, a predictable plot, but characters-wise, this might be clare’s best—debatable also—work. these characters are pretty unique from her other characters—part of families that are well and alive, dealing of legacies that are quite intertwined with the plot and setting, and not particularly lacking in any visible front. it is interesting how the mundanity of everything at first glance turns out to be much deeper and layered.

Its been 2 years since I last read a Cassandra Clare book and I’ve definitely missed it! It was really comforting to get back into a fantasy world I’m familiar with but still had so many new things to learn about.
