Pretty solid accounting of the slow then rapid militarisation of American foreign policy over the past 50ish years. Great accounting of the diplomatic response to the war on terror too. Pretty solid book for having been written by a nepo baby!

I hope every country would have Ronan Farrow of their own, so that public service of every kind - be it journalism or diplomacy - would remain lively and committed in this time of disarray. His never-take-it-for-granted respect for diplomacy, among others, is truly inspiring. He himself is a luminary. Hat off to all the hard work and thoughts and deliberations and reflections you’ve put into this book. So grateful we still have voice like yours nowadays, Ronan.

It is a bit disjointed and Farrow rambles more than I would expect him to. Interesting, if brief, recent history of the State Department and its role in the current climate.
