Traveling to Silver Rapids is one of my favourite literary journeys!!

I have been dying to know more about Sammy since we met him in Under the Lupine Moon. My heart broke  for him, he is the perfect example of someone whose secrets are keeping him sick. He refuses to let anyone close enough to help shoulder his burden, but Silas isn’t going to let him face the world alone. That’s what mates are for!!

It doesn’t matter how hard Sam tried to push Silas away and isolate himself Silas never gave up on him, and that all true love is, innit?

I love this series, and I look forward to many more trips to Silver Rapids in the future

Silas has tried his best to stay away from Sam after he told him, that he didn't want him. But after an incident which leads to Sam having nowhere to go, Sammy ends up living in Silas's house. How long will he be able to hide all his secrets? And will Silas be able to stay away from his fated mate?

This story was so FANTASTIC! Silas and Sam slowly unraveling all their secrets, REALLY getting to know the other and finally being together for good?! Amazing!! I loved learning more about Silas' former pack and his family. If you like slow burn, fated mates, knøtty alphas who will do everything to protect the ones they love, then you should visit Silver Rapids asap!!

Spoiler-free Summary:
Silas never wanted to be an alpha; there are too many bad memories associated with the title. But when he meets his fated mate, instincts he’d long forced dormant come roaring to life. An alpha needs their mate, but Silas’s doesn’t want him back. Sam is keeping a huge secret, one so big and crushing that he’s decided it’s safer to distance himself from everyone to keep them safe. Sam wants Silas like he’s never wanted anything else, but he fears his mistakes are too insurmountable for them to be together. Luckily, Silas will stop at nothing to make Sam his.

Thoughts:
I am so happy to be back in Silver Rapids, my favorite cozy paranormal town in Alaska! I first met Sam and Silas in book one, Under the Lupine Moon, and was so excited for their book! I loved book one, but I think I love this one even more!

One thing I adore about this series is that the wolf shifters spend a lot of time in their partial wolf forms, so there are a lot of adorable (and hawt) moments involving ears, claws, and fangs. In addition, I love how the author writes the characters’ wolfy inner monologue, especially Silas! His wolf was so funny and cute and added so much to the story.

The slow burn development between Silas and Sam was delicious. Sam has his reasons for rejecting Silas, and Silas has his reasons for taking it slow, but the PINING was sooo good! And best of all, I found the balance between intimacy, care, and spice to be perfection.

If you’re looking for cozy gay werewolves, this series is definitely what you want!

4.25⭐️

Silas and Sammy’s story! I don’t want to spoil the plot, since it’s definitely more intricate than the last book! But in this one you can expect: fated mates (but they fight the bond), a protective werewolf boyfriend, strong family bonds, and mystery!

The plot and writing has definitely leveled up from the last book! This book features a dual timeline, but it isn’t hard to follow. You definitely need to read book one to enjoy this one, though!

Silas is protective and strong, and shows that vulnerability is sometimes our greatest strength. Whereas Sammy learns that sometimes being honest and open with people is the hardest, yet most rewarding thing you can do.

I really enjoyed this one! The pacing of the story was good, and the balance between spicy romantic goodness and plot was done well, too.

The Silver Rapids series is a shifter romance taking place in Alaska. I’ll admit, I originally went into this series expecting another mediocre werewolf romance, but I was very pleasantly surprised. This series is poignant, emotional, and funny all at the same time. The characters are unique and the world-building is well thought out. Here are some of my favorite things throughout the series:

While the werewolves are possessive of their mates, it isn’t so aggressive it’s gross. The humans have autonomy through their interactions with the wolves, and I wish that was something we had in more werewolf books.

The awkward moments that come with being a werewolf. Honestly, this is one of my favorite little things to read in shifter romance. I don’t want to know how sexy the werewolf is, I want to know what about being a wolf is inconvenient in everyday life. The idea of a werewolf sex talk is honestly incredible and hilarious.

They’re angsty, but not so angsty that it’s hard to read. Most of the angst is due to inner turmoil rather than the relationship, and the books still manage to keep a cozy vibe.

They do have to be read in order, so keep that in mind. Since Below the Hunter Moon is a sequel, there are potential spoilers for the first book in the remainder of the review.

We’re following Sam, the brother of Book 1’s human protagonist, and Silas, the best friend of Book 1’s werewolf protagonist. Sam is a prickly pear on his best days, keeping all his emotions and struggles bottled up in order to protect his brother. Silas is an alpha, a natural caretaker, and he’s fascinated with Sam by their first meeting. Sam claims he wants to be left alone, but this is a romance novel so we know that’s not gonna happen.

Sam and Silas are both under a lot of pressure in their everyday lives, between Sam’s financial woes and Silas slowly realizing he has a pack now. There were a few moments in the books where I just wanted to smack their heads together, but I can’t help but love these two. Their romance was hinted at towards the end of the first book, and I was so excited to see where they were headed.

There were quite a few surprise twists that I didn’t see coming, but man were they fun. On top of that, we got some glimpses at possible future couples, so I can’t wait to see where this series goes.

I received an ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This was such a sweet and cozy read despite the mystery that got a little dark at times. Like the dedication implies, Sam was a very prickly character and I really enjoyed him. I love how Silas brought out all his softer bits. Overall, I'm just so endeared by this series. I'm hoping the next book will be centered around Riley and Buck. I'm very intrigued by them!

ARC REVIEW

I loved the first book in this series and I thought the series couldn’t get any better but this book far exceeded my expectations! The pining from both of them was strong, the hurt/comfort was so sweet I loved the way Silas just wanted to care for Sammy, and the plot involving Sammy’s ‘stalker’ was very intriguing! I adored the glimpses we got of Finn and Jaime and the cozy moments of their found family!
