Couldn’t finish it. Romanticizes violent, controlling, abusive behavior. It also annoyed me how it supposedly takes place in a college but instead is this weird high school- like environment where everyone eats lunch at the same time and sits in the same spot every day and is very invested in the relationship status of a few individuals.

Is this the fantasy? I don't really understand the appeal of this particular type of toxicity. I can do dark but this isnt dark. It's the realistic problematic pattern of the plot thats messing with me. You would think the frustrating part wouldve been the blurry friendzone or the numerous fights of his over the top jealousy. Nope. The most frustrating part was how the roommate Kara wrapped the whole unhealthy relationship up in one line and her good sense was summarily ignored.

It feels like this could fill three movies even though it's only 300 pages. A lot happens. There are soo many tropes! Wattpad vibes, some confusing names but easy to get through. now I'm prepared to dissect the upcoming movie. Read trigger warnings, got quite dark at some points.
