Initially I was put off by the cover as she looks like Angelina Jolie (who's not my favourite...). I enjoy Mead's writing style, and found this a quick and engaging read. I've heard the series just gets better and better!!
Hooked on the series! Maybe it's the fact that the lead female isn't just strong, but also flawed, funny and short-tempered. Maybe it's the abundance of Eastern European vampire lore. Maybe it's the politics of the odd society the characters live in. Most likely it's all of those things put together.

Pretty solid and not too deep supernatural teenage thriller. The mythology is interesting, though the opening is clunky. I enjoyed the story itself but found the villains pretty predictable. I did enjoy that the heroine had agency and expressed sexual desire rather than being a passive recipient to passion. I didn't love the frequent use of slur shaming as a plot device. overall, I'd recommend it to lovers of the genre.
