This was exactly what I expected it to be. I found that I didn't remember everything that happened in this from the first time I read it years ago. I'm glad I decided to reread this before getting into the second book. I felt exactly how I thought I would. It's very much 2000s vampire teen romance. I had a good time reading it, though I don't think that people would enjoy it now unless they are looking for exactly that.
You can tell lit is geared toward teans, because of the language and lack of romance. OK read, but heard the next one is better
Read it before and remembered too much of the plot so decided to skip to another book in the series
This is my second time reading this book. Once when I was 12 and again, 10 years later at 22. I can definitely see why I loved this book as a teenager. Even with the writing being in a young adult style (cringy at times), I still very much flew through the book and devoured the story. You bet I will be rereading the whole series and spin-off as well! I can also say, that I am not a fan of the age gap between the love interests in this book. Made me very uncomfortable to read.
Re-Reading this I understand why I was obsessed with this series as a teenager.
Also shout out to my first and most persistent book-boyfriend Dimitri… Trying desperately to ignore the fact that he is 7 years older than his 17 year old love interest.. it’s better than a 107 years old vampire I guess???

This book was weird at the beginning.
I would appreciate it if it was explained from the start what Strigoi, Moroi and Dhampir meant instead of looking them up on Wikipedia >_<"
It was also a bit boring at the beginning and at the end as well, maybe it's just me because I felt like the events were going a bit on slow motion. With that being said, the story itself was very good :D. I'm a huge vampire fan and especially in books.
I loved how things were going and the struggle with school and stuff, also, the friendship between Lissa and Rose and how strong it is.
I'm heading to the sequel now :D

If only this and many other books were released when I was a preteen. Sometimes being an adult sucks especially when I’m trying to read ya lol
