I loved this story about Caine and Diana even as a re-read but did not enjoy it as much as the first story in the series. They are brought together when Diana comes to meet her brother, Justin. They then begin to get together but insecurities get in the way. A great story and cannot wait to continue in the series. Definitely a series I would recommend. Xxxx

The second book in the MacGregor family saga features estranged siblings, co-worker romance, and enough cameo appearance from the characters from the first story to feel satisfying. I loved getting to see Diana and Justin begin to heal the rift caused by their years of separation. Caine MacGregor is a charming romantic hero. The good points of this story definitely outweigh the outdated 80's portions of the story. Attorney Caine MacGregor is given the task of picking up Diana Blade from the airport for her first visit with her brother Justin since she was 6-years old. He was unprepared for the cool and sophisticated woman who was the ultimate in control. Diana had the edge as she was well aware of Caine by reputation but was unprepared to find him to be so genuine. Their attraction was immediate and obvious.

I really enjoyed the start of this story when Caine & Diana first meet and she later reunites with Justin. Learning the truth about her years with her aunt revealed exactly how Diana was wired. Caine was also pretty engaging and I liked his relationships with his siblings and parents. It was the second half of the book that fizzled for me when both devolved into less than admirable behavior in their romance. She became maddeningly unreasonable, almost shrewish, and he resorted to physical means to get Diana’s attention that troubled me.

One real bright spot of the story was the inclusion of the details regarding a few of Caine and Diana’s cases. They were side elements that helped magnify both of their outlooks and linked to their own pasts that helped shape them. This story had a strong foundation but the romance eventually cooled for me. Just didn’t love it.

Easy read as usual for Nora Roberts but an absolutely shit book.  I was appalled by all the forced sexual interaction. It's not till later in the story that the main characters have intimacy that isn't forced, and this is supposed to signify that they now have deeper feelings.  Obviously the world has changed more than I thought since the 80s.

Caine MacGregor has yet to be impressed by Diana Blade. She's the sister of the man who is about to marry Caine's sister but she sure doesn't act like it. Gorgeous, but cold, she acts nothing like anyone he's ever known.
Diana is nervous. She hasn't seen her brother since they were children. The aunt who raised her has her convinced that he is close to the devil himself. Not that her aunt was the best but Diana is still cautious, everyone in her life has left. And she knows Caine's reputation. Just a few years behind him at law school, she knows the swath he cut through not only the classes but the female students. But she's moving to be closer to her brother as she opens up her own law office and Caine has the space. But the more he gets to know Diana, the deeper he finds that she hides her feelings and he'll have to work to get her to admit that she might have feelings too.

Diana, Justin Blade's sister comes for a visit. Unknowing to Justin that she has arrived, she struggles to find a way to break the ice. After all their lives have grown apart, she finally visits after Serena's invitation. Curiosity got the better of her. When she arrives, she meets Caine who happens to live in Boston and shares the same profession as her. Fate seems to have played a part and she finds herself struggling to thwart his attention toward her. After several attempts to break her down and bring her to the truth of her feelings, they seem to be going head to head.

Daniel MacGregor seems happy and content to make his want for children and grandchildren known. I love his persistence and his arrogance.

I am enjoying the MacGregor Clan and am looking forward to seeing what's in store for Alan. Nora is skilled in keeping the story going and it was nice to see what Serena and Justin had been up to since the first book ended.

This really didn’t age well- Caine is a forceful jerk who doesn’t listen, and Diana is of course a powerhouse at work (naturally) but way too weak in her personal life. She allows everyone to treat her terribly. Ugh, it was bad.

Boston :D
