It was fine. I didn't think we got that much more into Sam than we had before.
So yeah, entertaining, but less Sam than I wanted.

What a mess!! This is an example of why so am any Marvel comics are failing. This had rushed and incomplete storytelling, a plodding pace, poor characterization, too much humor at inappropriate times that tried too hard to be funny, and worst of all non existent editing. The last point is illustrated is one panel showing the outcome of events yet Steve Rogers, you know him as the star of the show since this story is the impetus for his coming back as a Hydra agent and all around bad guy who is reshaping the Marvel Universe, as OLD again! WHAT? Arrrrrrrrgggggggghhhhhh. If you want people to read your comics, write better stories!

Mixed bag of stories mostly settled around Pleasant Hill and the use of the cosmic cube to control a bunch of supervillains.

But it also contains a great 4 page story of Steve and Natasha going to the ballet which ends with - "You dance the way you fight. No, I fight the way I dance.". The art and writing was spot on.

Actually the main part of the book had a lot of moments with especially good writing. And the art was at least slightly better than typical.

And Steve stopped being old.

I loved everything about this! The snarky characters, the art, the story, the pacing... It was uplifting and really, really awesome to see all three Captain Americas teaming up - and recognizing and appreciating each other's individual strengths! I enjoyed the Avengers at the end, as well as the hilarious twists and turns of the plot.

My favorite parts: Bucky cooking eggs! Maria generally being Maria (she's hilarious)! Bucky and Kobik <3 Steve and Sam realizing they should BOTH be Captain America! Steve thinking of his loved ones! The clever return of some baddies!

This was just great. I highly recommend it!

Ugh, ugh, ugh! I like Sam Wilson and I want to like a solo series of his but this is just bad. Spencer's writing is so inconsistent and when it's bad it's really bad, not to mention the whole "Pleasant Hill" event is just bland. At least I know how Steve Rogers became young again... I guess... Eh.

As the next chapter in Sam Wilson’s story it feels a bit odd having such a focus on Steve Rogers.

I think as an event comic this is a bit stronger because it focuses on the three Captain America’s. It’s very heavy on the dialogue but it’s written well enough that the wacky isn’t too much of a good thing, from here I look forward to where the story is taken.

I just love a comic book that contains an entire story! Especially one with three wonderful main characters – old man Steve Rogers, Bucky, and Sam Wilson. I know that others have bemoaned Steve Rogers’ return to youthfulness as a deus ex machina, but for something as inevitable as Steve’s return, I felt like it was handled in a fairly logical and natural way.

Sentient cube Kobik is a really stand-out character, and I look forward to learning more about her – I’m excited to hear that she’s joined a superhero team of her own!

Sam Wilson’s run as Captain America continues to amaze me; Captain America: Sam Wilson, Volume 2: Standoff is no exception.
