kind of disjointed and confusing when you first start.
but the story slowly unfolds and you get to know Lio and Craig (Craiger/Craigor) and suddenly you're almost done with the book

the added undercurrent of the Snipers was eerie and disturbing. I remember those days. I lived on the west coast and was terrified daily for everyone on the east coast. I can't imagine if I'd had kids...or watched news...

all in all, I'm glad I read it.

It's the fall of 2002. Craig and Lio are teenagers living in the suburbs of Washington, D.C., where a sniper is shooting people. The two boys navigate friendship, deeper feelings for each other, and their personal demons.

Told from both boys point of view, this is a story that will quietly draw the reader deeper into the boys' lives.

(Review from 2012)

There is one feeling that doesn´t happen a lot. That feeling when you finish a book, and stare and stare and stare at the last page, while goosebumps runs through your body in waves, over and over again. It´s happened like two or three times for me. And it happened at the end of this book.

This was a very character driven book, more so than plot driven (at least thats how I felt). That´s not to say it didn´t have a plot. It did. And those snipers scared the hell out of my. My fear of someone randomly shooting me on the street that I´ve had since summer 2011 it´s not likely to go away anytime soon after this book.

It´s hard to really describe this book. I loved Leo and his non-talking ways (because I can relate) but I loved him even more when he talked, and I loved his crazy hair. I loved Craig and his heart and his love for his animals. (I also loved Jack for being an awesome friend). The only person I didn´t like was Cody, but that´s because I´m biased and loved Lio/Craig so much that I wanted him out of the picture everytime he was brought up.

This book really took me by surprise. It wasn´t what I thought it would be, even if I didn´t have any actual thoughts on what I thought it would be.
I was expecting to love the book, and I did. What I wasn´t expecting was the ways this book affected me.

I cried at the end (view spoiler). I cried during the book. It could´ve been an easy read because it´s short and the font isn´t very small, but I had to take emotional breaks from reading because it was too much for me.

I am really grateful for it, and really grateful my friend decided to order it, and decided to get the package from the postoffice right before coming over to me, and decided to open it up at my house so I could see it.

Can I say (without anyone throwing anything at me) that I just didn't love this book? I liked it, sure, but loved...well, no. I even lived in the DC area during the sniper shootings, and can attest that many of the characters' thoughts and feelings were quite real.

While the author seemed to be able to get into Craig's and Lio's deepest thoughts and emotions, I just didn't like either of them. And I know Craig's parents were giving him a lot of leeway after losing Cody, but to let him have all those animals (and allow that smell) seemed like poor parenting. Honestly, his older brother, Todd, seemed a better parent to him. Lio's dad and his sisters, though, were something special.

Yes, this was a sweet story of being able to love someone again after a loss. And this was an honest portrayal of young love. I just wish I could have liked the characters a little more.

At first i didn't know this book was going to be about a gay boy. Good thing im all about the rights of homosexuals for obvious reasons if you know me. i usually don't like these kinds of books just because its not action packed and a must read of the century and all that stuff that reviewers say about books.
i know this isnt much of a review but i have home work so get over it people.

I really wanted to like this book, but... I just couldn't get into it... While I found a few things very touching and respect the story as a whole, it was overall rather bland.

This book is absolutely perfect and anyone who says otherwise is just plain wrong. I was in a rut where every book i picked up was the same cliche blah stuff, then this lovely book falls into my hands and I can't put it down. The characters are too adorable and I just want to hug them forever ^-^
