Didn't feel like Sherlock Holmes or Watson to me. And many parts/dialogue felt anachronistic.

Eh

A Sherlock Holmes story is made from all the pieces of the puzzle fitting neatly together and deductions that make you go "that's right, that makes sense!". None of that happened here. There was hardly even any investigating. The two times Holmes deduced something, his reasoning behind his deductions were vague and uncompelling.

Decent book, awful Sherlock story.

I've never been a fan of Sherlock Holmes. Read this book because the author is a HS classmate of one of Peggy's friends. It was good, but I won't seek out another by this author.

Art in the Blood beautifully captures the voices of Sherlock Holmes and Dr. John Watson as originally conceived by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Watson takes a break from the settled life of a newlywed to join Holmes on a quest to recover a French chantuese’s child/a stolen statue of Nike and expose an English peer’s wrongdoing. Plenty of plot twists and Holmes’ unique brand of deduction, plus some new allies pack this slim novel. Caution: contains thematically dark elements.

found this a little difficult to get into initially- kept putting it down every 20 or so pages and picking it back up later, only to put it down again. once it got going (about halfway through) I found it much more enjoyable, and look forward to getting started on the next book.
special mention for the acknowledgments at the end that detail the actors who inspired the authors visions of sherlock, john and mycroft, as they happen to align perfectly with my own. the book definitely reads more as a combination of these characters than a continuation of ACD's.
