I enjoyed this book, I enjoyed this world! But the story was a little convoluted and had lots of moving parts, and my love for Nikolai waned throughout this book (not for any particular thing he did or didn’t do, but I lost my connection with him because of everything else going on). I loved the twists and turns at the end of the book because I really didn’t know how it would work out, and I like that the ending is open-ended for another duology/trilogy in the Grishaverse in the future. This book was definitely a culmination of the books that are already out and you see glimpses of characters (good and bad) from the other books in this book.

While overall a great ending to the Grishaverse with appearances from many beloved characters (a certain introduction towards the end had me screaming), the way certain things are portrayed and resolved makes so much of the Grisha trilogy feel worthless — why did I read and love that trilogy just for its antagonist to get this ending in the end? Still not the biggest Nikolai fan but Zoya has my heart and the gender historian in me is satisfied.

What a glorious book. Full transparency: I hated king of scars in many ways. Rule of Wolves? What a redemption. The more the story progressed, the better everything became. My worries after reading kos were solved.

Also, HANNE???? My god I adore him. If we get a third crow book (which we better do, have you read the ending?) I demand to see more of him.

On that note though, Nina feels off in her ending. She shouldn’t become queen of Fjerda. No. She should have embraced her new power, instead of abandoning it in a way. She and Hanne could have had an ending together without them having to live a lie.

That is my only big issue with Nina’s ending. I feel like she changed in a way that wasn’t natural to her character.

Once again, Bardugo also made me sob. I just feel like she got the hang of it again, after kos. She gripped my feelings and soul the way kos failed to, but the other books in the series also do. I’m so happy she bounced back.

Rule of Wolves isn’t Bardugos best in my opinion, but it absolutely is up par with the rest of the Grishaverse (besides kos, which was saddly dissapointing). The only technical problem I have with this book is that

we weren’t shown them finding David’s body. I feel like that would have been a really important part to show but I’m willing to look past it.

Amazing ending to the saga. Did not expect to cry so much but everything that happens is handled with outmost care. These characters will be in my heart forever
(TW: mention of past almost child marriage, arranged marriages, racism all brief. Other tw are more described but all well handled)

Leigh Bardugo’s best work. The world she’s built through the past 2 duologies comes together beautifully here. Seeing past characters again was a delight. The pacing here is also consistent rather than shoving a bunch of action into the final 100 pages. My heart was repeatedly broken and put back together.

For me, this book was an emotional roller coaster. Love the character development, how everything worked out in the end (in ways I never expected)! 

It left you on a slight cliffhanger where the author has the option too write where she left off if she chooses too. Amazing book, amazing series, amazing author!

As the epic finale for the Grishaverse, Rule Of Wolves had a lot of expectations surrounding it. In my humble opinion, it surpassed all of them. 

This book follows Nikolai, Zoya, and Nina as they prepare for battle against Fjerda and struggle to keep Ravka from toppling under the weight of civil unrest and royal conspiracies. We see a deep dive into the cultures of both Fjerda and the Shu Han, which I found super intriguing (who knew the Shu had such a rich, feminist history??). I absolutely adored seeing Nikolai and Zoya’s relationship blossom, as well as Nina and Hanne’s. Nikolai is one of my most beloved characters, and this book just made me adore him even more. I was so excited to read about his and Zoya’s sojourn to Ketterdam, which ended up being the perfect cherry-on-top for this book. I literally fell out of my seat multiple times over the course of the story, and if that’s not a sign of a good plot, I don’t know what is!
