Powerfully real characters who have been perpetrators of torture and who have been sinned against clash and the result is grief, separation and then union with shared grief. Repetitive language is a deliberate move and is effective enough to give you goosebumps time and again.

Maybe because I am new to the book's setting of it's culture or maybe Roy's writing. But I did like her style. It's beautifully written you feel all the prose meant, deep from her.
Characters were depict in such a way you feel them. Excellent. Really feel for Velutha. Hays. And the twin's relationship was almost perfect, until something twisted happen by the end. Ugh.

If I could give this book 0, I would. But I can’t, so have 1.
If you need a book to fall asleep to. This is the one. Gets me off to sleep in 1 chapter.
I have no idea what was happening. It’s is heavily descriptive and seems that the smallest detail gets 20 pages of backstory. The relevancy is unknown to me and I do not care to explore why. It’s seems to jump about a lot. I thought someone had died and then they hadn’t.
I was looking forward to reading this and very disappointed that it’s wasn’t anything that I hoped. Waste of time for me
I’m going to ready a summary of the second half of the book because nothing made sense
