Okay yes this book is dark af and I feel like a hypocrite to be like "I'll never read a mafia romance" but I will read this....don't judge me. Anyways the thing I continue to find most interesting about these books is the overtly hypermasculine culture that they depict which is so violent and so macho and yet also deeply intimate and tender and at times homoerotic. Idk I think these books present something interesting in terms of a portrayal of masculinity that is both celebrated and challenged within the pages of the book. Maybe I'm getting academic to justify my fascination here and if I am, SUE ME!

First, I was like Whoa. (Wrath's Book)

Then, I was like Whooa. (Rhage's Book)

And Then, I was like Whooooa. (Z's book)

I don’t even know if I can really describe how this book made me feel. It was just plain awesome, breathtaking. Made my heart pound, my pulse quicken and my eyes water.

Zsadist…..oh sweet Virgin in the Fade. His story rocked me to the core.

“He thought of all the holes in him, the blank spaces, the voids where others felt things. When it came down to it, he was really just a screen, more empty than solid, his emotions blowing through him, only the anger catching and holding.”

His journey was so gut wrenching, so much pushing and pulling.

Bella, was an awesome heroine. Strong and witty. And so determined to go after her male, to stand by him and bring him out of the darkness…

“She was tangled in the net of him, caught between the kindness and the cruelty."

A lot happens in this story and by 90% or so, my heart shattered for Tohr.

My favorite book of the series so far – by like a million miles. The steam factor is definitely kicking up - and nope, I am not complaining. just two words - THE NEEDING . Uh, yeah, a lot thigh squeezing for me.

How much Zsadist loves Bella (and vice versa) breaks my heart. Bella’s strength and Zsadist’s character development carried this book hard. Definitely my fav book out of all the Black Dagger Brotherhood series.

Warning! The subjects in this book are dark and you should definitely know your triggers and read the trigger warning page before jumping in.

re-read/1st listen. Review to come

April 2025…. I’m rethinking my life choices in reading this series. It’s so cringy! Was it written by a prepubescent male teenager or a 80 year old retired ex New York cop? The world will never know!  The constant use of the word sissy triggers me!
medium-paced

Jumped around and the characters seemed like Butch and Marissa with more angst and friction.
