Girlmode is such a good read and I really enjoyed the art. It became more than just a trans girl trying to figure herself out and who she is. It touched on what it means to be a girl, pleasing and loving yourself and about female friendships. Mackenzie, the popular girl who becomes Phoebe's friend, goes through her own arc in the story and I love both Phoebe and Mackenzie's growth throughout the story. I also love how supportive her father is and even though he's clumsy, he really has good intentions and a good heart.
Each chapter focuses on Phoebe's relationships with people and I like how the author and illustrator explore it and how throughout the story how people changed. I especially love the ending of this graphic novel and the message it shares overall.
It is something I believe everyone, especially my fellow women, need to be reminded of.

Incredibly stereotypical high school “ugly girl becomes popular” story with a trans twist that’s well done but also incredibly frustrating.
