The characters felt realistic and relatable, in comparison to the first book. There were enough background stories, allowing the readers a grounded and fleshed out view of the characters’ lives.

With regards to the plot, it wasn’t rushed and it played out well. This is a huge improvement on the author’s writing from the first book, which impressed me.

Ryker was a sweet guy, I loved how he didn’t any bullshit. All of his actions were somehow justified or had a purpose.

Instant chemical attraction, have you ever had that with someone...anyone? Felt like you've you known them for years?  Penelope Graham and Ryker Voss had it in spades, it oozed from their pores, it melted from the pages of my kindle. Insta-in-love with the two of them!!

Penelope's sassy-no-filter mouth with a dash of geek is pretty much my favorite kind of heroine and then Ryker---oh holy hotness---the sensitive side that he didn't even know he possessed until he meet the right girl is extra sex-on-a-stick and had me melting over and over.

"He shrugs nonchalantly. And I watch him. Seeing him. He has such a soft side. My heart flutters." -Penelope

Waylon University's football team has had a long history of making bets among themselves, childish-boy prank kind of bets, but honestly let's figure out the math involved in this equation. Jocks+boys+bets=stupidity, see math never lies.

Ryker is given a bet that Penelope will not go out on a date with him, the stakes are raised further when she puts several guys in their place unbeknownst to the team that Penelope doesn't date football players. Ever. The more she says no, the more Ryker is intrigued. The more he's intrigued the more he gets to know her. She's funny, smart, cute in an understated way. Just different from the girls he's used to being with and it makes him sort of crazy that she is so opposite and yet he wants her knowing the price it will cost if the bet is actually won.

"Something changed between us. I can't put my finger on exactly what, but I do know I'm jealous as hell of a nerd who loves to talk about mechanical pencils and pool." - Ryker

Ryker wants Penelope, but he won't pursue her because of the stupid bet. He'd never hurt her, he's not that much of a douchebag, but what he can do is help her get a date with the geek that she's been infatuated with. If it means spending more time with her he's all in. Perhaps once she sees that Connor is all geek and Ryker is really a nice guy she'll change her mind and...and...well the bet...the bet, that damn bet.

"My heart dips. Ryker Voss is one complicated man." -Penelope

I Bet You is soooooo good. I couldn't stop reading it. I loved, loved, loved Ryker and Penelope so much I seriously never wanted the story to end! It releases soon and you need to add this one to your TBR list.

Some books give you the stupids. You know...the stupid grin, a case of stupid giggles, and the stupid star struck sighing happy thoughts look. The stupids for short.

I Bet You is all about giving the stupids. I have a scary stupid grin and that lost in the clouds happily never coming down look in my eyes but it's the giggles that made my eldest two children come running and question my sanity. I have a full blown case of the stupids.

I Bet You is every swoony thing. All the swoons. I can not even express the amount of fun it was to read this book. It's silly and sweet. It's naughty and demure. It's a whole truck load of contradictions but the absolute perfect storm of awesomeness. From pop culture references to OTT (over the top) acronyms, you will be swept up in all the fun.

I Bet You can't read this without cracking a grin, snorting at dialogue, and finishing with hearts in your bodice ripper loving eyes!

I Bet You...

Too insta lovey. Too fast paced. I get that the absence of an parent from each MCs lives were meant to give them more structure but there was no substance in it. And a flurry of incidents. Too much at the same time.

I Bet You is the second book in the Hook Up series by Ilsa Madden-Mills, but each book is easily read as a standalone story. I really enjoyed this book and honestly it was just one of those refreshingly fun reads that I liked from start to finish. It was exactly the right book to break up the more serious books I’ve read recently and had so much fun reading it!

Penelope has been crushing on the perfect guy for her, and football star Ryker knows just how to help her get him. All he needs is a little help from her to win him a bet. Of course he doesn’t tell her his true intentions for helping her, but as they start to spend more time together things begin to change between them. Penelope doesn’t date football players, but Ryker is determined to get her to see that while he might not look like the perfect guy for her, they belong together.

I loved Ryker and Penelope. They were so much fun to read about and I really enjoyed seeing the cat and mouse play between them. Ryker was sexy and sweet, and I loved that he didn’t let Penelope to get away with anything. He kept her on her toes and forced her to face things she tried to avoid. Penelope was great. She was easy to like and relate to, and I felt for her. These two were perfect for one another and their banter was something I couldn’t get enough of.

Overall, this was a great story. I loved the characters and their friends. There was just so much to love here, and I felt like it was genuine and original. It didn’t fall into the typical traps that NA books do, with the characters being mature and relatable. I think readers will love Ryker and Penelope and I honestly can’t wait for more from Ilsa Madden-Mills. I’m really hoping for a Blaze and Charisma book next!

2.5, penelope was TOO dramatic sometimes, ryker made some questionable comments and everything felt rushed (still it was a fun read)

“No matter what I tell myself, he’s stealing my heart, bit by bit, and it’s going to take everything I have to resist falling.”

I Bet You is everything sports romance should be: fun, flirty, sensual and romantic. Penelope and Ryker have off-the-charts chemistry and their sizzle from bantering maybe-friends to more is so much fun. A wonderful cast of characters, including a rather peculiar parrot, and a great balance of drama and rivalry, sweet and sexy, friendship and love, humor and heart make I Bet You a perfect pick-me-up read.

I Bet You was a pretty good audiobook. Not sure why I went out of whack with this series. I read the first and third book but completely skipped this one? Again, not sure what I was thinking but thankfully I redeemed myself!

In it, you will meet Ryker and Penelope. He's the football star and she loves vampire's - like in books. Of course he knows his way in the bedroom and she's the shy little virgin. Or is she? Of course she isn't now because they met each other. I won't say that this was insta-like or love because I didn't feel like it was rushed that way. Or whatever.

Nah, their relationship kind of felt tame to me. Yeah, he opened her eyes to things in the bedroom. It also doesn't hurt that they were kind of cute together. I almost died with the whole rash thing towards the end of the book.

In the end, they were cute and their relationship/drama was a bit predictable. I still ate it all up though and now I need another book by Ilsa.. maybe I have another series that I haven't finished. Or read out of order.
