I will never tire of reading stories about World War II. It is so important to learn about all of the tragic and terrible things that have happened so maybe we can stop them from ever occurring again. And it never ceases to blow my mind that after all the horrible things I learn about that happened during the war, there are still more! I had never heard about this story of the “Rabbits” and it is just heartbreaking. I do like how this book continues after the war to how the situation affected specifically Kasia in her life later. The only reason I deducted a star was for how difficult it was to get into the book in the beginning. The first three or so chapters were kind of a struggle for me. But I’m glad I stuck to it.

Honestly, I didn't really like this book most of the way through. I stuck with it because of Kasha, but the other two characters were unlikeable and outright horrid I thought. I am glad I finished, but I also saw there are sequels but I'm definitely not interested.
