"Sometimes it can feel so good to give someone what they want it is the next best thing to getting what you want." - The Midnight Lie by Marie Rutkoski

Nirrum lives in the lowest ward with the rest of the Half Kith. They are made to work for the Middling and High Kith's pleasure. Make all of their goods for them and paying tithes if they are caught breaking the law. Nirrum knows this is the way of it. That is until she meets Sid. A self proclaimed lair and a rake. Sid is a traveler. One who is seeking the secret of the magic of the High Kith. Nirrum must decided whether to leave all that she knows behind for the chance of something new. Something magical.

This book took so many of my deepest thoughts and collected them onto these pages. There were several moments were I had to physical but the book down and take a moment to process. Her fight, both internal and external, for her own happiness hit really close to home. It's hard to put what I feel for this book into words.

I will admit, I was a bit hesitant on this series after Rutkoski's first series was a bit all over the place for me. However, the romance for this one was actually something I was really into and I am very interested into seeing where this story heads.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.

This one just wasn’t for me. The plot was moderately interesting but for some reason the writing just didn’t click for me. I also didn’t like how much the story depended on dialogue. I don’t usually like the whole instant infatuation trope and this book was not an exception.
