I absolutely loved this book!! I had a hard time with the first few chapters while I was hooked it took me a little longer than normal to read through it. Once the story picked up I was so drawn in. I absolutely loved relationships and found family of this book. The slow burn was so good. I did get mad at some of the miscommunication but in the end I loved this book!

DID NOT FINISH: 10%

Tooooooo many similarities to Crescent city, it took me out of the books

I will never forgive the author for using
the dog dies
trope. Wholly unnecessary and pointless aside from being an emotion grab.

Otherwise, it was too long and boring. Slogged my way through to finishing. The end got better because something finally happened. I'll stop here with this series.

Started strong and really picked up by the 30% mark, then went downhill after 60%. Has a direct rip off of the throne scene in ACOMAF. Really enjoyed the world building initially but then everything just started falling flat. Its supposed to be from different POVs but sometimes they got kind of crossed and character seemed to randomly change their minds and actions and I got a bit of whiplash while trying to keep up. FMC felt like she was just there while the MMC had all the character development. Not sure I'm invested enough to read the rest of the series.

Great urban fantasy. I loved the “who done it” theme of the book. I loved the chemistry/ yearning between the two main characters. The book was extremely long but well worth it.
