What fun when Shakespeare's Midsummer Night's Dream meets Austen's Pride & Prejudice!

A puck-like Emissary is just about fed up with his latest assignment.  This pair of lovers just refuses to cooperate and get this assignment in the books so he could head out on his well-earned holiday.  And, look at that, their fussing caused the Above to add one more couple to his task list.  Drastic measures are called for.  He'll get this pair to see they are perfect for each other even if the means are generally frowned upon.

While the antagonism is high between Darcy and Lizzy at the Netherfield Ball, something odd happens and they suddenly find they have swapped bodies.  Is it enough to make them see the true person before them?

This fun and light novella was a captivating tale that began and ended during the course of one evening.  The author alternated points of view between the hidden and watching 'Emissary' and the pair of would-be lovers.  I enjoyed the mischievous Emissary so much and enjoyed the funny moments that happened for staid Darcy and prejudiced Lizzy when they must go about as naturally as possible.

I've vastly enjoyed the author's books in the past and was not surprised to be highly entertained by this lighter entry.

I absolutely adore this little confection. Lovely worldbuilding in the fantasy elements, and gorgeous internal monologues by the stars as they speed-run (believably, touchingly, thoroughly) their respective changes in perception of themselves and each other. Mackrory's sense of humor is a delight and every word of this is a joy.
