The writing in this book was great. The plot may have been a little predictable/a little too good to be true, but it was very entertaining.
If you like my year of rest and relaxation, bunny or happy hour, you'll love this. A great mix of unhinged young woman, thriller and berlin :)

Despite its numerous flaws, an interesting and unusual coming-of-age story.
It's pretty brutal, check the CW.

Notes:
Henkel is clearly a brilliant human. You see it as you walk through the book, hear it from each character’s mouth. I almost wish I had known more art, so that I could fully grasp the references that were made throughout the book. Her writing has flow (!!!) and she paints, vivid pictures of each scene, character, and feeling as you read. She has this tendency to lull you and then snap you out of it in one abrasive sentence. While I would normally never pick up this book, it makes me glad that I have a friend that would place it into my hands.
My Review:
This book is a suspense, and my love, suspend you will. A feeling of apprehension lingers over you, as well as an almost disturbed energy that prevents you from putting the book down, (even when you kind of want to). For lack of better wording, this book was f*cking weird, making you shift in your seat. I didn’t enjoy it at first, but the further I read, the less capable I became of NOT finishing. I love a good twist, and Henkel brings a great one that had me wondering how I’d missed it.
Quotes:
“Being an artist is about selling stories, and selling stories is commerce.”
‘Wearing her clothes made me feel in control.’
‘______ and I were too bloody, open wounds, bordering on turning a violent green, neither of us able to heal as long as we had each other.’
Final Takeaway:
This pushed me out of my comfort zone. The friendship irritated me, the drama seemed easily solvable, AND YET , I love how you have to go from start to end to really grasp everything and finally understand the weirdness of this book. And the end, was when I knew I f*cking liked that story a lot.

Oh my god what was that ending!
I struggle to read the first half—mostly because Hailey seemed so insufferable, but the plot gets real juicy in the second half!
