Bina is looking foward to spending her summer with her best friend. When he ends up going away to camp, Bina has to figure out how to make the most of her summer

Read as an ebook on the libby app. Would like to read the other two in the series but unfortunately my library doesn't have copies

reading this on Kindle is an exercise in frustration - panels do not enlarge and it's just a really unpleasant experience. pity because i really wanted to read this one!
emotional hopeful lighthearted reflective medium-paced

I was introduced to Hope Larson through Goldie Vance and I enjoyed the world she built that I looked for other works by her. All Summer Long is so charming. Spending a summer with a girl in her teens where not much happens, but it still ends up being a formative time in her life. Hope Larson is one of my favorites graphic novel writers.

3 1/2. I really loved the art and the story is solid, I just wanted a tad more from it.

Well I wish someone would have written this when I was 13. Such a a great coming of age tale.

Bina and Austin have been friends since before either of them can remember. The summer before 8th grade their friendship starts to change. Austin doesn't want to play the same summer game they always play and he heads off to soccer camp for a month. Bina is left behind with no one to hang out with and not much to do. She eventually finds herself hanging with Austin's older sister, but does a high school girl really want to be friends with an 8th grader?
Good for ages 12 and up

While I enjoyed the story, the ending really left me wanting more!!

Great graphic novel for middle school and up about how friendships change and evolve as you grow older and your interests change. Bina, 13, has always been best friends with her neighbor Austin, who's her same age, but this summer between 7th and 8th grade, things are different when he goes away to soccer camp. She's left spending the summer trying to entertain herself. She starts hanging out with Austin's older sister, Charlie, who's a high schooler and very cool, and has some adventures in babysitting, but it's not the same. And Austin won't answer her texts like he usually does. When Austin returns, he's still aloof, and Bina is worried that he's no longer her friend. They have to work it out together and see where they are now in their friendship. This is a good look at teen friendships, also at music--Bina wants to be a musician--with a nice diverse cast, including the parents and other family members, and terrific art (black and white with orange tints).

I won an ARC via a Goodreads giveaway

This was a very cute graphic novel. It is easy to read this and think back on past friendships and reflect on how they changed, began, and sometimes ended. Watching Bina go through this definitely took me back. The color scheme for this GN was great too. I loved the use of the various shades of orange, and it truly set the atmosphere for summer vacation. This graphic novel won't wow you, but it will leave you with a smile on your face. It was just what I needed after a DNF book.
