I just really like Hope Larson. This went a way I wasn't exactly expecting and I really appreciated that. Summers can be a strange time and I really liked the way she depicted this. Hopefully I can read everything she has soon!

Wow. Amazing how suddenly certain parts of All Together Now make so much more sense now. Yes kids learn to make sure you're not reading a sequel by accident. I thought with more ready access to the internet I would manage to get away from that forever. I was wrong. *shakes fist at something*

It was okay. Really if I hadn't already read the sequel I probably wouldn't have bothered with it. Nice, but nothing to write home about. Something chill to fill the void created when my building's electric fried itself.

This YA graphic novel follows 13-year-old Bina as she makes a new friend and discovers new things over the summer break when her best friend goes away to camp. The art is gorgeous! The orange colouring reminds me of the sunset, perfect for a story set during the summer. And I love that the author avoids the usual cliches about teenage friendships and show that they can endure changes.

Cute/sweet middle-grade graphic novel about a 13 year old girl whose best friend is a boy. He has been acting funny lately, and now he is going off to camp, and she's not sure what she is going to do during the summer while he is gone. It captures that age well.

thanks Netgalley for providing an egalley to this book!

gosh I wish this book didn't have a part where they make fun of bassists. I might've rounded up the 4.5 star book to 5, if not for that.

say it with me: bass is NOT a copout and NOT an easy instrument. playing root note bass is exactly the same level of difficulty as playing power chord guitar. BASS IS A GROOVY COOL TOUGH INSTRUMENT AND GUITAR PLAYERS THINK THEY'RE BETTER THAN THEY ARE.

This wasn't really anything special; I didn't love the drawing style, and the story wasn't super interesting.

Pretty okay at first, but then again so is summer vacation. It feels like it's never going to end then all of a sudden it's just over. That's for both the book and what summer feels like in general, haha. Though overall, it was pretty neat. The friendships made in this graphic novel really shined, and I'm sure Bina's going to rock on in the future.

Thank you also to JM for gifting this. <3
