I have read Jane Eyre but am not super familiar with the novel's finer points (I do know the main plot, of course), so I am sure there were parallels drawn that I missed. However, I still found the novel very interesting and engaging. I did not predict the twist at the end (though I rarely do), so I was kept guessing throughout the majority of the story. I did think that the romance was slightly contrived and I didn't really feel the attraction between the two but that's sometimes the case in historical novels. I thought the first half of the book was better than the second half as the second half felt somewhat rushed and packed too full. Overall it was a very good reinterpretation of a classic novel and I would highly recommend it.
Entertaining, if unexpected
Jane Eyre as a serial killer.... highly entertaining and quite ridiculous. But I thoroughly enjoyed it. I did find passages of it a little long and found myself switching off at moments, but it drew me back in and the overall story and characters were great...

Jane Eyre is my favorite book. I am transfixed by the Dexter series. I was promised that this book was a marriage of the two. The first half was just that. Then, it felt like a new book began within a book once Jane became a governess. I didn’t like how the home’s occupants overshadowed Jane’s story.
Sass. Jane Steele has sass, and I thoroughly enjoyed watching her make her way in the world.
From Jane's initial pseudo-idyllic-with-a-twist upbringing to the miserable boarding school life to her survival by any means possible to the final romantic (but definitely not) conclusion, Jane makes her way through life with a strong survival sense, an quick pencil and sass.
I'm going to have to go read Jane Eyre again..... and hope for more adventures of this Jane.
