I read this because Cole Wehrle cited it as one of his world building influences for Oath. It was entertaining to see some of the relics and sites from the game pass by in this story, but other than that, I unfortunately couldn’t get beyond its formulaic structure and dated characterizations.

I just reread this one. I don't remember Eilonwy that obnoxious. I still really enjoy it and think it is a good book for late elementary school.

The Prydain Chronicles are some of my favorite books. I loved them as a child when I read them and I love listening to the audiobooks driving around as an adult.
The characters are so loveable and so much fun to follow around the land of Prydain. Lloyd Alexander has a very authentic voice and at no point have I felt that the words get in the way of the story. This book kicks off an incredible series.

This is a plot driven hero's journey about an assistant pig-keeper and the crew he gathered to help him save his mentor - and his pig. It's fast paced and generally well written. The audio book narrator did a good job with most of the characters. I enjoyed this one!
