The world building is incredible, somehow more captivating than the first book. However, the pacing was very slow. The events of the book span over 5 years and jump around to so many characters it was difficult to get invested into one of them. War is the essence of the book and I wish there had been a more compelling overarching plot. I found the first 30% and last 15% to be way too drawn out. Not sure if I will continue reading this trilogy.

I absolutely loved this second book. Its main minor drawback is the cast with point of view chapters being perhaps a bit too large. That said, I was thrilled by the twists and turns, both in terms of action and character based ones. It really plays with the emotions masterfully.

I love the depth of the culture and traditions of the Green Bone Saga world.  I especially enjoyed exploring Kekanese, as well and first generation Kekanese in other countries. I also am impressed at Fonda's ability to make me care about people in a crime family dynamic. Looking forward to the next book in the se

This was as good as Jade City. We follow the Kaul family even further in their efforts to secure No Peak's position in Kekon and are given much more POVs and insights than in the first book. Anden is now living abroad in Port Massy, Republic of Espenia, and we follow him and his endeavour to make a home for himself far away from the Green Bone culture, family and expectations he grew up in. There's so much happening at the same time while tensions are high and the stakes are as high as they can get. I cannot wait to see how the story concludes in Jade Legacy.
