Brandon Mull seems to have an unlimited imagination. This series is just full of the most interesting and surprising stuff. I love this series and I can't wait to finish it. I recommend this fast paced book to anyone who enjoys a fun read with a good mystery. The world crafted is so well done. I don't know why these haven't caught on because they are up there with Harry Potter and the Hunger Games. There isn't much humor, that's the only drawback I can think of.

Enjoy!

3 stars from me, but my son gives it 5 stars (he first read it at age 11). There's a good plot twist in this one!

This was a cool book and a fun fusion of magical ideas and how tech advances. Fun and let fast paced. It felt like Aero was brought up and then just kind of fizzled out. Would have been fun to have a little more of him. Otherwise, constant adventure, surprise unveilings and friendships formed.

I really liked it. This kingdom so far seems the most like our earth.

hunter's quick turnaround and changing sides is very sus and i don't trust it,.. but also part of me is pleased to see someone be presented with challenging information, go do their own research, and change their opinion. so hopefully his change of sides is genuine!

Finished yet another audio book!

CONS OF FIVE KINGDOMS

There were a couple parts that felt a little slow because of all the explanations needed - but, overall, all the information that needed to be explained was done well, so it wasn't too bad.

Once again, we had to listen to the same-old discussion between Cole and Dalton about whether they should leave or stay. We got it the first five times, boys; you can stop doing it so often, now.

PROS OF FIVE KINGDOMS

Um the world building?? Is so cool?? I know I complained that some of the way it was introduced was slow, but once you know it, it's just really cool.

The cOVER?! It's amazing.

HUNTER! It's so cool to see the effects of not remembering a lost family member directly in Cole.

Sidekick was so much fun.

The climax!

OVERALL

Enjoyed yet another book of Brandon Mull's!

Going into this book I didn’t have my hopes set very high. I found Skyraiders to be predictable, slow, and oddly split (as if it needed to be two books). The Rogue Knight was better but still not the Brandon Mull I remembered. Crystal Keepers, however, was exactly what I needed.

The book introduces a new kingdom full of crazy tech, well rounded characters, and awesome sub plots. It still is a bit predictable but managed to hold itself up. Its action packed with a great balance of funny and serious moments. The ending is a bit abrupt but that isn’t uncommon in some of Mull’s books (a few of the Fablehaven books… Dragonwatch (particularly Master of the Phantom Isle)).

Overall, this was probably my favorite out of the series so far.
