4.5

4.5 rounded up. I think this is my new favorite of the Bromance Book Club!!

Friends to lovers is such an elite trope and I love how being best friends was never something that changed even as Alexis and Noah became something more. Their friendship stayed super important to both of them, which is absolutely adorable. I spent a lot of the book as frustrated with Alexis’ new family as Noah but I still respect the way she handled it with grace - truly not how everyone would have reacted! Can’t wait for more meddling book club antics in the next book!

POV: dual third person omniscient

You can expect: friends to lovers, he falls first, sexual assault survivors and healing, business owner FMC, hacker/computer security business owner MMC, newly discovered family, secrets, meddling friend group.

Rep: anxiety, kidney failure, transplant, grief

Audio rec?: yes, always supportive of Andrew Eiden

Spice: 2/5

CW: past sexual assault/harassment, nearby business owner with victim blaming mentality, discussion of kidney failure and kidney transplant (non graphic), death of a parent in the military, death of a parent from cancer.

Halfway through I just wanted the story to end. Overall it was a cute story and it handled themes of SA very well.

I’d read quite a few reviews that pegged this one as the weakest of the three in the series so far, and I don’t agree. I enjoyed it as much as the first book (haven’t read the second yet but this one convinced me to rectify that).

Best bits:
• A well handled execution of the friends to lovers trope - I totally believed in the growing romance between Noah and Alexis.
• The hilarious scenes with the members of the Bromance Bookclub. I love the dynamic between the guys and Adams does a great job developing those friendships and providing some laugh out loud dialogue.
• Beefcake the Maine coon.

Howevers:
• One thing I enjoyed about book one was the book within a book element. I don’t think the author did enough with that this time around. The romance novel appeared only now and then and wasn’t integrated in as clever or as satisfying a way.
• The subplot with the angry business owner neighbor felt tacked on and not very well developed. I am not sure it was needed.
• I could have handled more scenes with the guys because they are so memorable.

Another fun outing in this series! I will look forward to catching up and also grabbing the new one coming this summer.

Honestly, The Bromance Book Club are some my favourite romance novels and this was no exception. I was so excited to be back with the guys and couldn’t wait to read about Noah and Alexis. Their friends-to-lovers story felt real, and I loved the journey they went on, both together and separately.  The underlying plot was well written and added a lot to the story. I can’t wait for the next one!

Business is booming at ToeBeans - owner Alexis Carlisle has come forward as one of the many victims of a celebrity chef's sexual assault. Alexis has created a safe space where people can come forward and talk to her about their own experiences, the last thing she's expecting is a young woman claiming to be her half-sister in need of a kidney for their ailing father. With this news, the only thing she can do is turn to her best friend Noah Logan.

Noah has been keeping a secret of his own; he's in love with Alexis but doesn't want to ruin the friendship that they have together - and everyone knows except for her. His pals in the Bromance Book Club are more than willing to help him out by sharing their ways. It was so nice to get to see the boys back in action together and especially loved the scenes where Mack is planning his wedding. This book has so many laughable moments and thought it had a good balance of seriousness mixed in with a few good chuckles.

This book warms my heart, I loved watching the friendly relationship turn into something more (Noah's character is so swoony), and although the outcome was predictable - friends to lovers, it was still a blast to read. I really liked how to book ended, leaving it open for the next installment where we focus on the Russian!
