I absolutely loved this book and will be re-reading it later on. If you’re looking for a spooky season read definitely give it a shot. It wasn’t scary but it was definitely creepy and actually hilarious at times.
I’m adding some quotes from the book at the bottom of this, so don’t read further if you feel like it might spoil something for you. (I don’t think it will but

This book had such an odd (but wonderful) mix of creepy horror vibes and charming story-telling. It was definitely one of those books that you finish and think "what did I just read???" but in the best way possible! This was a 5 star read for me, and I would recommend it to any thriller / horror fans out there!

If you are looking for a spooky read then The September House is perfect for you. Margaret and her husband Hal, have been married for thirty years and finally are able to purchase a home. The home is a stunning Victorian that surprisingly has been on the market for longer than you would expect. However, soon after they move in they begin to notice some odd things. When September rolls around each year their house becomes haunted but to Margaret she can live with it since the other eleven months it goes back to relative normal.
Everything seems okay until Hal goes missing and when their daughter Katherine calls to say that she is coming home to stay and find out what has happened to him. It would not be so bad but it is the beginning of September.
I was not expecting to love this one but it was such a wonderful surprise. Margaret it a fantastic character and being inside her head was funny along with insightful sayings about being alone and getting older. I obsoletely loved it and wanted to keep reading it until it was over.
The writing is bingeable and really comforting as you read further into the novel. I look forward to read more form this author.
